The process of creating through art offers a unique opportunity to explore, get curious, ask questions, play, and even get knocked around a little. When trying out new materials or discovering how one thing affects another, we learn, get excited, and begin to know and honor our deep curiosity.
In my work as an artist, art educator and in the community development sector, my interest has always been in engaging process and building connections. I approach creative development and teaching art in the same way. Value is placed on the process of creating. By inviting curiosity, exploration, play and discovery we learn about new materials, build skill, develop confidence and feel comfortable to express ourselves.
Children’s classes and workshops range from creative explorations to deeper investigations of technique & materials. Both approaches allow time to investigate and explore ideas while taking freedoms to try something new and immerse oneself in the whole experience of the creative process.
I offer small class sizes out of our home-based studio with quality instruction and artist quality materials. Currently I also teach a variety of children and family art classes out of Cedar Hill Arts Centre as well as the Greater Victoria Public Library and in a variety of community settings.
